An intelligent detection scheme for sonar signal tracking
نویسندگان
چکیده
A novel version of the adaptive sonar signal thresholding scheme using RBF neural networks is proposed in this paper. Intensity thresholding has proven to be an effective technique to eliminate the low energy noise and to reduce the computational load in an underwater target tracking system. The adopted technique yields unbiased estimates under a non-homogenous sea environment, because the false alarm rate is maintained at a constant level while the threshold changes with different sea environments. In addition, the threshold for different range cells can be adaptively estimated, since the noise under estimation is strictly local so that the distance the sonar signals travelled does not affect the received intensities of noise and targets. Finally, the computational requirements are greatly reduces through the introduction of a recursive proposed scheme.

The Application of Bioinspired Sonar to Cable Tracking on the Seafloor
Marinemammals have developed highly effective sonar systems for detecting, identifying, and following underwater objects. In this paper we demonstrate that bio-inspired wideband sonar offers great capability for tracking cables on the seafloor. The analysis of biological signals, including dolphin clicks, suggests two approaches. The first is to use a wideband signal, integrating the response o...
متن کاملNarrowband Passive Sonar Tracking
Passive sonar sensors are the main source of information for a submerged submarine. Modern sonar systems like ISUS 90 offer a number of acoustic antennas and combined signal processing for broadband and narrowband detection and analysis of target noise. While broadband detection is often used to obtain an overview of the targets surrounding the own ship, narrowband processing enables the detect...

This paper presents a pattern recognition-based scheme for detection of islanding conditions in synchronous- based distributed generation (DG) systems. The main idea behind the proposed scheme is the use of spatial features of system parameters such as the frequency, magnitude of positive sequence voltage, etc. In this study, the system parameters sampled at the point of common coupling (PCC) w...
متن کاملContact Fusion and Multi-Hypotheses Tracking for Low Frequency Active Sonar Data
Towed low frequency active sonar systems (LFAS) are used in Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) to detect submarines. LFAS systems are hampered by reverberation in shallow water environments because the interaction of sound with the sea bottom can lead to a large number of point-like sonar contacts resulting in a high false alarm rate. Reducing the false alarm rate under a non-decreasing probability o...
متن کاملTrack-Before-Detect for an Active Towed Array Sonar
Conventional active sonar processing systems typically reduce the sensor data from an intensity map to a pointmeasurement form via a detection thresholding process. This approach is often sufficient for detecting and tracking high signal-to-noise-ratio (SNR) targets but becomes more challenging for low SNR targets. Track-Before-Detect (TkBD) is an alternative tracking technique that supplies ra...
